Abstract:

In this article, A dual-band circularly polarized, compact dielectric resonator antenna with high isolation, high gain has been introduced. The proposed antenna has realized circularly polarized radiation by applying asymmetrical cross slots embedded at the ground layer and balanced strip feed. From the circularly polarized radiation pattern, the cylindrical shape dielectric resonator antenna, when excited on its broadside, confirmed the HEM11δ at 1.176 GHz (L5 band) and higher mode TM01δ at 2.492 GHz (S band). Maximum of 3.06 dB and 6.05 dB circularly polarized gain have been achieved over axial ratio bandwidth of 16 MHz and 106 MHz in L5 and S bands. The achieved front-to-back ratio of 4.98 dB & 13.36 dB and cross polarization of -23.75 dB and -22.76 dB in L5 and S bands respectively appear quite satisfactory.
