Cloud Computing Application in Medical Imaging: Challenges and Opportunities

In healthcare, critical systems are used to provide vital information and services 24x7x365. Recent years have brought important advancements in medical imaging and information technology (IT) which have changed significantly the way we operate and interact with each other. The use of cloud computing has centralized the infrastructure of radiology, software imaging, database storage or network configuration, that could then be provisioned as service based on user demand to any Internet computer. The present article provides an overview regarding the basic concept of cloud computing technology and discusses its application for medical imaging.
