Abstract:

Stepping motors are the electromechanical actuators commonly found in fax machines, printers, security cameras, intelligent lighting systems, medical equipment robotics, etc. This paper focuses on the design of an optimal controller for controlling the speed of stepping motor. Traditional PID tuning methods are inefficient, time-consuming, and expensive. To address this, optimized metaheuristic genetic algorithm (GA) for tuning stepping motor controller PID gains have been provided. GA-PID control outperforms other PID controls for stepping motor speed regulation because it provides superior steady-state and transient responses. The simulation study showcased that the GA-PID controlled stepping motors are more efficient in performance.
