Chapter Abstract:

This chapter reviews the wide spectrum of software quality factors that represent aspects of software use that may be operative throughout the life cycle of software systems. It deals with Jim A. McCall's classic model for software quality factors, the ISO/IEC 25010 model, and other alternative models of software quality factors and software compliance with quality factors. According to the McCall's model of software quality factors, three quality factors deal with those requirements that affect the complete range of software maintenance activities: corrective maintenance, adaptive maintenance, and perfective maintenance. A great variety of software quality factors are presented in the alternative quality models. According to McCall's model, five software quality factors included in the product operation category are correctness, reliability, efficiency, integrity, and usability. The chapter presents the criteria for factors of alternative quality models that are not included in McCall's and ISO/IEC 25010:2011 product quality models.
