Abstract:
With rapid and rigorous advancement in Medical science, detection and measurements of abnormalities in patients is almost no longer an issue now. Many personal healthcare systems are available in market that can measure vital health parameters and possess potential that can help to lead a healthy life ahead. These systems have emerged swiftly in the past few years with the advancement in the semiconductor technology. This paper presents a portable health monitoring system. Thus it makes complete sense to march this progress further and try to integrate as many of such systems as possible in a single device while maintaining the efficiency, reliability and most importantly portability. This paper explores one such integration in context of embedded system design. Sensors along with a communication protocol and a fairly reasonable user interface are embedded on the system for data acquisition, computation, transmission and display of data. The logical operations can performed by standalone ARM but for prototyping purpose, BeagleBone Black is used.
