Abstract:

Brushless doubly-fed induction generator (BDFIG) as a stand-alone power generation has a wide application of variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) generator in ship shaft generator systems. In this paper, an excitation control strategy for stand-alone BDFG is introduced, moreover, the characteristics of the ship shaft generator is discussed. Working in the ship, the stability and energy-saving efficiency of the standalone generator should be strongly taken into account, to tackle this problem, the prototype test of the BDFIG is rigorously implemented and the test results is comprehensively analyzed. The experiments included in this paper were carried out on a 60kW wound rotor BDFG.
