Abstract:
In this article we expose a new field of application of such a classical method of computational group theory as the Sims' algorithm. We introduce a symmetric block encryption scheme based on a secret key which is a table of strong generators of a permutation group. We discuss how the proposed scheme can be adopted to be used as an authentication method.
