Abstract:

In this paper, the HCl removal ability of a multi-metal adsorbent was investigated in the temperature range of 573-873K. The results showed that the adsorbent had an excellent activity for HCl removal, and its breakthrough chlorine content reached 42.53% at 773K. Besides, the reaction kinetics of the adsorbent with HCl was also studied at temperatures from 573 to 773K. Simultaneously considering the gas diffusion in the solid production layer, the shrinking un-reacted core model could describe properly the reaction process of the adsorbent with HCl. It was found that the reaction process of the adsorbent with HCl was simultaneously controlled by the chemical reaction and the gas diffusion at high temperatures, and the gas diffusion was more and more severe with increasing temperature. In addition, it was also obtained that the activation energy for the HCl removal reaction of the adsorbent was 48.8kJ/mol.
