Abstract:

Here we demonstrate a novel waveguide composed by a pair of parallel slabs made of a metamaterial with both negative real permittivity and permeability (double negative material, DNG), and a conventional material with both positive real permittivity and permeability (double positive material, DPS). Salient property of this guided mode is that it can support the wave propagation at any cutoff frequency with arbitrary dimension. The special parameters, such as the thickness of slabs made of DNG and DPS materials and wavenumber, are also presented in this paper.
