Abstract:

In this article, the responses of the aircraft structural fuselage (skin) produced with Aluminum, Composite Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) and Expanded Copper Foil (ECF) embedded CFRP materials to the Lightning Indirect Effect (LIE), that is, the currents induced on the cables, are analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the differences between the current levels induced by the Lightning Indirect Effect on the cables routed inside the aircraft were examined. The LIE on CFRP and ECF embedded CFRP fuselage was compared. The currents induced on shielded and non-shielded cables are compared. In addition, the currents induced on cables of different size (diameter) on the same line will be compared.
