FDTD Numerical Tests of the ConvolutionalߞPML at Extremely Low Frequencies

Numerical evaluation of the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) convolutional perfectly matched layer (CPML) at extremely low frequencies (ELF) is conducted herein to arrive at acceptable values for the PML parameters. This is accomplished by conducting numerous simulations of an electric dipole in a 60 x 60 x 120 free-space domain and by benchmarking the simulation data against reference data for strategic observation points within the domain. Results show that PML attenuation on the order of 60 to 70 dB can be obtained for 10 to 1000 Hz signals in the quasi-static region of the dipole.
