Intermodulation Distortion in OSSB/SCM Systems with Partially Suppressed Optical Carrier

This paper investigates the performance limitations due to intermodulation distortion of broadband Optical Single Side Band/Subcarrier Multiplexing (OSSB/SCM) with optical carrier partially suppressed. It is demonstrated that the partial suppression of the optical carrier increases the intermodulation distortion of OSSB/SCM systems resulting in an overall system performance degradation when intermodulation is the dominant noise source.
