New software technologies, such as VISA and IVI, continue to bring the industry toward greater standardization. The benefit to the integrator is reduced costs through reuse of the same hardware and software. The benefit to the customer end-user is lower costs by reducing modification and support through the life-cycle to the test station. However, while we position ourselves for the future with PX... This paper describes the operational evaluation of a door-opening system based on a low-cost inkless fingerprint sensor. This system has been developed and installed for access control to one of our laboratories. Experimental results reveal that the system is working fine and no special cleaning requirements or components replacement is needed. It can support more than 50 users, and an average of ... The possibility of ultrawideband (UWB) radar usage in various fields for remote measuring the object's motion at short distance is considered. Application of UWB radar in medicine for remote measuring of patient's heart activity and respiration is shown. The measuring method is described and practical results of tests are cited. The opportunity of radar application in other areas is described. View full abstract»

As part of the ICAO navigation systems panel ground-based regional augmentation system (GRAS) validation process, issues arose concerning the transition between VHF data broadcast (VDB) stations. The GRAS sub group was invited to demonstrate that hand-over occurs only after successful lock onto a new VDB after 60 seconds of tracking the new power level and that the use of the new data does not aff... The increase in the barge-carried cargo volumes in the lower Odra River area necessitates the tracking of barge traffic in order to ensure the safety of navigation. The Dziwnow DGPS reference station, designed for marine traffic, is located near the mouth of the Odra River. The paper presents the results of investigation into the availability of DGPS signal transmitted by the Dziwnow reference sta... View full abstract»
