    This comment refers to Dr. E. S. Gillespie's excellent article in,this issue and specifically to the terms power gain and directive gain. For some years a number of us have been concerned about the use of the above terms. The modifiers, "power" and "directive", were employed in the IRE Standards on Antennas-Methods of Testing, 1948 to eliminate the ambiguity associated with the use of radiated power or power delivered to the antenna as the "gain" reference. The IEEE Test Procedure for Antennas No. 149, January 1965, and IEEE Standard 145, March 1969, clarified the ''power gain" reference further by using the term "power accepted by the antenna from its generator" instead of "power delivered to the antenna" as in the 1948 standard.
