Improvement of low gray scale linearity using multi-luminance-level subfield method in plasma display panel
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):2 - 3A new multi-luminance-level subfield method is proposed to improve the low gray-level color reproducibility of a plasma display panel. Multi-luminance levels can be expressed per sustain pulse in low gray scale by applying the different auxiliary pulses in the same sustain-pulse subfields, thereby suppressing the low gray-level contour. A low-cost plasma display panel data dispatcher for image enhancement
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):4 - 5The plasma display panel (PDP) is one of the best solutions for TV sets, but its retail price remains higher than that of CRTs. This paper proposes a low-cost PDP data dispatcher which focuses on converting the image signal inputs into the PDP display format and reducing the numbers of components as well as the cost used in the dispatcher module at the same time. New driving scheme for white color balancing of plasma display panel television
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):6 - 7A new driving-scheme is used for balancing white colors of plasma display panel-television (PDP-TV) by independent luminance control of the red, green and blue colors. White colors of eight subfields can be clustered within a region, which is not resolvable in terms of visual perception. View full abstract»

Real-time digital video watermarking
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):12 - 13
Cited by: Papers (2)We present method that uses digital video watermarking as a real-time authenticator in a video stream. The proposed scheme uses the Hadamard transform as the spreading transform for the key, hence very fast coding and decoding of the the imperceptible watermark is realized. This in turn, can serve to verify the source of a digital frame in real-time. View full abstract»

Improved video watermarking for MPEG encoders using motion analysis
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):14 - 15This paper proposes a new watermarking method, which uses motion analysis to allocate watermarks where they will be less perceptible and thus improves their transparency. The proposed method would be most effective when incorporated into MPEG encoders and could be widely used in consumer electronics. View full abstract»

Hash function and turbo code for invisible communication
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):16 - 17This paper presents a blind data hiding technique in still images. The cover image is de-correlated by using the key. The error control channel coding is introduced into the data hiding scheme. The message encrypted is encoded with a turbo coder. The one-way hash function is used in the embedding process. The algorithm for hiding bit selection is proposed and an experimental implementation of the ... View full abstract»

Invertible semi-fragile watermarking algorithm distinguishing MPEG-2 compression from malicious manipulation
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):18 - 19
Cited by: Papers (2) | Patents (7)This paper proposes an invertible semi-fragile video watermarking algorithm using a hash function to authenticate the video contents. It can protect the video content from malicious manipulations and detect the modified part of the video. Also the proposed algorithm has the invertible property, which allows us to get the original video data back if they are authentic. View full abstract»

HDTV-PC for media convergence
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):24 - 25We developed the ARIB-compliant HDTV-PC and used it for experimentation of unified applications by both digital broadcasting and broadband communication. With the rich viewing of HD video and synchronized interactive data services, a HDTV-PC solution is a more compelling one than each of the digital DTV and broadband PC. By combining the rich viewing by HD video and abundant information from the I... View full abstract»

TrueTime software architecture
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):26 - 27General purpose operating systems do not provide a quality of service (QoS) guarantee for processing isochronous A/V data streams. The TrueTime software architecture provides a model for guaranteed processing of isochronous streams. The TrueTime architecture integrates with an OS kernel to exploit the streaming nature of isochronous data streams. View full abstract»

Video quality-of-service for consumer terminals - a novel system for programmable components
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):28 - 29
Cited by: Papers (1) | Patents (2)Future consumer terminals will be based on programmable platforms instead of dedicated hardware. Novel 'scalable video algorithm' (SVA) software modules provide trade-offs between resource usage and quality of the output signal. SVAs together with a strategy manager (SM) and a quality-of-service resource manager (QoS-RM) aim for robust and cost-effective media processing in software on programmabl... View full abstract»

A mobile network architecture with personalized instant information access
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):34 - 35
Cited by: Papers (2) | Patents (1)There is a need to provide a mobile network architecture that delivers quality concurrent access to personalized information and services - whether distributed by the broadcast media, over the Internet or via the telephone. Current information appliances either lack adequate display capabilities (e.g. cellular phones) or mobility (e.g. WebTV). Nevertheless, in the near future, the volume of inform... View full abstract»

A new readout circuit for an ultra high sensitivity CMOS image sensor
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):42 - 43We have developed a new readout circuit for highly sensitive CMOS image sensors. The circuit makes it possible to obtain high signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) by effectively transferring signal charges accumulated in the photo-diode (PD) to a smaller capacitance. We fabricated and tested a CMOS image sensor with the readout circuit, and confirmed that it has higher sensitivity than conventional passive... View full abstract»

Low cost single chip CMOS camera for automotive application
Publication Year: 2002, Page(s):44 - 45Non-integrating CMOS image sensors have a higher dynamic range than alternative designs, making them more suitable for automotive applications. Unfortunately, gain and offset non-uniformities in the photosensors and active elements on the focal plane generate fixed-pattern noise in the received image, limiting the resolution and sensitivity of the vision system. We present a solution based on an a... View full abstract»
