A set of subroutines is developed in this work which can be used to generate a three-dimensional graph of an antenna pattern. The graph is a projection of the surface representing the pattern. The threedimensional shape of the pattern is readily apparent from this type of graph. The set of subroutines provides several options and features which can be used to enhance the graph. The set of subrouti... View full abstract»

I am pleased to offer this historical article by Carl Baum. I have known Carl since the early 70s, when much of the work described was in its early development stage. Indeed, it is interesting for me to note that Carl recommends reading the special AP issue published when I was editor of the Transactiom. During that publication period we were having great difficulty with page limtations (700-800 p... View full abstract»

Over the three years during which I was Editor of the AP Transactions, I periodically reported to the AdCom the state of the journal, in the form of statistical data concerning papers in process. Now that I have handed off the editorial responsibilities to our new Editor, Bob McIntosh, and have had time to catch up a bit on my othear activities, I thought it might be interest to the readership of ... [Editor's note: Three short articles concerning the definition of the gain of active antenna systems and planar arrays appeared on pages 62-64 of the October, 1989, Newsletter. The following comments were solicited by Antoine Roederer as a part of the questions he raised in the October issue, but unfortunately arrived a few da s too late to include in that issue. Alan J. Simmons ($0 Box 103, Winch... View full abstract»
