Towards a fast centralized controller for integrated silicon photonic multistage MZI-based switches

An FPGA-based centralized controller architecture for silicon photonics MZI-based switches is experimentally demonstrated achieving scheduling decision in one clock cycle. To counter process variation affecting the switching bias voltages, a pulse-width modulation technique is presented.
