Experimental demonstration of DSP-enabled drop operations of flexible ROADMs excluding optical filters and O-E-O conversions

ROADM drop operations at spectrally-overlapped orthogonal sub-band levels are experimentally demonstrated, for the first time, utilizing DSP approaches in MZM intensity modulators driven by RF signals. Drop operation impacts on physical-layer network performance are measured.
