Abstract:
Polyethylenedioxythiophene polystyrene-sulphonate PEDOT:PSS, is a conductive polymer which is widely investigated. The conductivity of the material depends highly on the purity of the product and the application process. It varies from 90–5000 Ωcm. Different brands (3) of PEDOT:PSS have been used in making “capatteries”, devices which are somewhat in between capacities and batteries. The textile based energy storage devices were made with silver coated polybenzoxazole (PBO) yarn electrodes in one set of devices and in another set with pure stainless steel filament yarns as electrodes. A comparison of the performance of the different types of the PEDOT:PSS brands in our device has been performed by voltage decay measurements. From the results, it is clear that the three different types of the PEDOT:PSS have different charge storage performances, and that the performance of pure stainless steel filament yarns dominates the performance of silver coated PBO electrodes.
