Low voltage high output current AC/DC converter with sinusoidal line current

A converter that draws sinusoidal line current and delivers isolated low output voltage comprises two parts. The best structure to carry out the first task is the boost structure with a basic condition: the output voltage of the power factor corrector always has to be higher than the instantaneous line voltage. There are therefore several solutions for converting this high DC output voltage to the required final DC output voltage. A capacitive half-bridge on the primary side and an inductive half-bridge on the secondary side is an interesting association for hard commutation working. A great capacity placed on the output of the boost structure entails its relative independence from the isolated regulator. Therefore the article presents these two parts separately.<
