Automatic determination of quantitation parameters from Tc-Sestamibi myocardial tomograms

An algorithm that automatically extracts the slice center, radius, apical, and basal slices of Tc-Sestamibi tomograms has developed. The reliability of the algorithm to process stress and rest tomograms was validated with a prospective population of 38 patients. Based on this validation, the feature extraction algorithm was incorporated into a quantitative procedure for analyzing Tc-Sestamibi myocardial tomograms to reduce operator interaction and objectify the quantitation process. From the limited evaluation data set, both the center and radius figures of merit showed the ability to discriminate between studies with accurate computer-derived features from those with faulty ones.<
