4 Amazing Animals

Which is smarter, a computer or a dog? Simple organisms such as bacteria, plants, and jellyfish have traces of intelligence in their abilities to sense and react to their environments. But I am interested in brainier animals and focus on bees, octopuses, ravens, dogs, dolphins, and chimpanzees. These six beasts provide a good overview of intelligence in nonhuman animals, covering insects, mollusks, birds, and mammals. I overcome the neglect of fish in chapter 6 with my discussion of whether fish feel pain.
