Computer Resources to Support SQC

The use of technology to analyze complicated data has increased substantially, which has not only made the analysis much easier but also reduced the time required to complete the analysis. To facilitate statistical analysis, many companies use personal computer‐based statistical application software. Several software packages are available, including Minitab, R, Python, JMP, SAS, SPSS, and SYSTAT, to name a few. A great deal of effort has been expended in the development of these software packages to create graphical user interfaces that allow software users to complete statistical analysis activities without having to know a computer programming or scripting language. The chapter discusses some of the statistical packages that are commonly used by academicians and practitioners: Minitab, R, Python, and JMP.
