CMOS Image Sensors and Biomedical Applications

This chapter introduces recent advancement of CMOS image sensors. The fundamental operation principle is mentioned in detail as well as some recent topics including shrinking pixel pitch, high sensitivity, high speed, etc. Finally, biomedical applications with CMOS image sensor technology are demonstrated such as retinal prosthesis, fluorescence detection for ELISA, and implantable micro imaging devices.
