Introduction

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book introduces digital control systems via practical applications. Control is the act of producing a desired output for a given input. The control system sets the internal temperature to the desired value by using a cooler. The control system may be classified either as analog or digital depending on its construction. The book provides basic digital signal processing and control concepts and presents the framework for modeling the continuous‐time system. It considers transfer function‐based control system analysis, design techniques and state‐space analysis and design. The book also provides provide adaptive control methods and introduces advanced methods and practical digital control applications.
