If you took the modern Internet back in time to an early Starbucks in the 1980s, handed the nearest patron an iPad, and explained what it could do, he or she would be amazed. You would explain that from the comfort of the café they could use the device to communicate with their work, pay some bills, check their portfolio, choose a new car, read the news, brush up on a foreign language, and on and on, and most people would be speechless. And then you tell them it is all free (except the car).
