Algorithm Evaluation

The computational efforts are distributed among scattered processors or controllers, which are commonly referred to as agents or intelligent agents. The design of the communication network for distributed control and optimization is case to case. This chapter discusses the common issues and matters that should be considered for distributed algorithms, and especially, uses the consensus algorithm for demonstration. It introduces the multi‐agent system (MAS) platform developed for distributed applications, which is suitable for MAS‐based control technology development. By integrating the MAS with the real‐time digital simulator, a MAS‐based real‐time simulation platform for testing distributed control solution is also introduced. Because the developed models to describe actual power systems are running in real time in the simulator, this platform can be used to evaluate the control procedures such as data sampling, communication, the act of control signal, etc.
