IoT Applications

Immense potentials associated with Internet of Things (IoT) have enabled the actualization of a huge number of applications in different domains to improve the quality of human lives. The generic IoT‐based smart home framework is hierarchical and consists of different levels, i.e. household things networks, Cloud, utility, third party, and user interfaces. Referring to biomedical sensors, wireless body area network becomes an important research topic for IoT‐based health‐related applications. In the near future, IoT has certain goals about the realization of the smart cities through the use of different technologies, i.e. smart things sensors, Cloud, smart grid, and mobile networks. Considering mobility, IoT is very suitable for the collection of data from sensors attached to mobile devices, i.e. sensors available in vehicles. IoT‐based smart agriculture practices through precise information and accurate decision support have enabled farmers to improve prevailing solutions of conventional farming, i.e. land‐crop suitability, irrigation, and insect/pest control.
