As we touched on in the previous chapter, such practices highlight one of the key affordances of mobile media: mediated and intimate copresence, and corresponding feelings of being-at-home, being-with-others, and care at a distance when not physically present or colocated. In fact, the history of intimacy is one that involves various forms of mediation—if not by technologies or representations, then by language, memory, and gestures.
