Summary and Future Work

This conclusion chapter presents some closing thoughts on the keyconcepts discussed in this book. The book provides insight into how game‐theoretic techniques can be used as a tool to design cyber deception schemes to protect Internet of Things devices (IoT). It introduces the baseline signaling game models to capture the information asymmetry, dynamic, and strategic behaviors of deceptions. The book presents a hyper‐game‐based cyber deception strategy to mitigate a targeted attack where an adversary compromises an edge device, and through exploitation of vulnerabilities of connected Internet of Battlefield Things devices, launches a targeted attack on a critical device on the network. It focuses on a resource‐starving attack due to non‐availability of dedicated spectrum channels to IoT devices. The book analyzes deception in adversarial cyber operations. A formal characterization of the interactions between attacker and defenders within the context of cyber deception, is conducted.
