The Globalization of Wind Power

The rise of wind power in Europe, the United States, India, and China provides an illustration of how the combination of improving technology economics and supportive policies can help launch a multi‐billion‐dollar energy industry and create a new set of domestic and international equipment manufacturers. Wind power's journey across the course of the twentieth century was essentially a prelude to the explosive growth that started at the dawn of the twenty‐first century. Another interesting aspect of wind power's twenty‐first century rise is the extent that it has been made more available across the globe. Dealing with growing amounts of wind power is an emerging challenge that is currently being addressed. New innovations will be required to transform power systems around the world, and emerging technology solutions are already providing a glimpse into the future of wind power.
