Downstream or Distribution Logistics

Downstream or distribution logistics manages the relationship with the end consumer. Logistics must be aware of the distribution circuits it faces. In fact, the typology of the circuits influences the modes of delivery and storage. The alternative for the company is then to choose between a warehouse (with storage) and a distribution center (without storage). Talking about distribution logistics also requires an interest in e‐commerce. When the distribution circuit is determined, the logistician has to choose the type of depot best suited to respond to product deliveries. Although reverse logistics includes the entire supply chain from downstream to upstream, we place it in urban logistics because that is where it finds its supply. It is in fact from the finished product of the delivered product (or in delivery) that this logistics begins. Within the framework of reverse logistics, policies are sought by the logistician.
