On stage at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in 2015, at a panel called “The Future of the Digital Economy,” the world's most power ful technology executives painted a sunny picture of the technological future. Satya Nadella (CEO of Microsoft), Vittorio Colao (CEO of Vodafone), Sheryl Sandberg (COO of Facebook), and Eric Schmidt (former Google CEO and executive chairman of Alphabet, Google's parent com pany) shared their visions for the future, in which enough broadband could solve almost all human challenges, whether of poverty or the building of democracies.
