Digital Communications BER Performance in AWGN (Block Coding and Fading)

This chapter presents topics in Simulink based on block error control coding in a fading channel. Specific topics include the following: Bit error rate (BER) performance of Bose‐Chaudhuri‐Hocquenghem (BCH) (31,16) binary Phase‐Shift Keying (BPSK) in Rayleigh Fading with interleaving; BER performance of Golay(24,12) BPSK in Rayleigh Fading with interleaving; BER performance of Reed‐Solomon (31,15) 32‐FSK in Rayleigh Fading with interleaving; BER performance of Reed‐Solomon (15,7) 16‐quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) in Rayleigh Fading with interleaving; and BER performance of Reed‐Solomon (15,7) 16‐QAM in Rician and Rayleigh Fading with interleaving. The chapter repeats the block error control coding and modulation cases with interleaving and Alamouti space—time block coding (STBC). The STBC results indicate significant gain over uncoded modulations with large diversity order.
