NGN Services

NGN is designed to have capabilities for all telecommunication services, either provided within the NGN or via third‐party service providers. In that manner, this chapter covers QoS‐enabled VoIP as successor of traditional voice in PSTN. Also, it includes IPTV services over NGN including multicast‐based and unicast‐based ones. Since the NGN supports the best from both worlds, the traditional telecommunications and best‐effort Internet, this chapter covers the web services in NGN environments as well as Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) services. Further it continues with coverage of VPN services in NGN, and with emerging Internet of Things (IoT) and Web of Things (WoT) paradigm for connection to anything. The chapter concludes with business models and regulation of the NGN services.
