Release 11 Further Enhanced ICIC: Remaining Topics

In this chapter, we discuss the Inter‐Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC) techniques based on carrier activation/deactivation in the multi‐carrier macro–pico deployment scenario. A new control channel called Enhanced Physical Downlink Control Channel (EPDCCH) was introduced in Release 11. We review the basic structure of EPDCCH and provide some examples of how to use it for inter‐cell interference coordination.
