Measurements and Parameter Extraction

Parameters that depend on the position to be estimated can, in general, be obtained from signal observations in wireless radio systems. In this chapter, the estimation problem for these parameters is formulated. Estimation methodologies for position dependent parameters are discussed. For general evaluation of estimation accuracy, we derive and discuss the Cramér–Rao lower bound for signal parameter estimation. Examples complement the derivations and discussions.
