AC‐Link Universal Power Converters: A New Class of Power Converters for Renewable Energy and Transportation

AC‐link Universal power converters are a new class of power converters with numerous advantages. Being universal the input and output of this converter may be connected to dc, single phase ac or multi‐phase ac sources or loads. Therefore, this converter may be employed in a variety of applications. The ac‐link universal power converter can also interface multiple loads and sources and still remain a single‐stage converter. The link in this converter has high frequency alternating current and voltage and by adding a small capacitor to the link, the converter can benefit from the soft switching.
