ARM® Microcontroller Development Kits

This chapter provides general information on software development tools and platforms used for Tiva^TM TM4C123GXL evaluation board. Many commercial development tools, including the integrated development environment (IDE), debug adapters, compilers, loaders, and runners, are available for the ARM® Cortex®-M4 microcontrollers. The entire development system for ARM® microcontroller can be composed of the following components or tools: development kits or suites, debug adaptor and drivers, specified microcontroller unit (MCU)-related firmware, program examples and development or evaluation boards. The Keil® microcontroller development kit (MDK) is the most comprehensive software development environment for ARM®-based microcontrollers. MDK Version 5 is now split into the MDK core and software packs which make new device support and middleware updates independent from the toolchain. Texas Instruments TivaWare^TM software for C Series is an extensive suite of software tools designed to simplify and speed development of Tiva^TM C Series-based MCU applications.
