ARM® Cortex®-M4 Parallel I/O Ports Programming

This chapter first provides general information about ARM® Cortex®-M4 microcontroller general-purpose input output (GPIO) port programming. It then discusses the GPIO ports and pin configurations used in the TM4C123GH6PM MCU system. Next, the chapter concentrates on the following peripherals since these peripherals belong to the parallel I/O peripherals: on-board keypads interface programming project, analog-to-digital converter programming project, and pulse-width modulation (PWM) controlled DC and step motors programming project. The on-board keypads interface programming project is directly related to GPIO ports with GPIO control. The TivaWare^TM Peripheral Driver Library provides more than 35 API functions related to PWM modules operations. Finally, the chapter discusses some important and popular functions used for most applications. These functions can be divided into the following three groups: PWM modules and generators configuration and setup controls, PWM output controls, and PWM interrupt and fault controls.
