Performance Evaluation of the Hammerstein-Type DFE

When nonlinear distortion of the fiber channel and the multipath dispersion of the wireless channel are jointly equalized using a Hammerstein type decision performance equalizer, the performance evaluations and equalizer parameter optimization are very important. This is explained in this chapter where the mean square error performance is derived using the correlation properties of high order nonlinear terms. The derived expression simplifies to that of the linear DFE when the nonlinear portions is absent.
