Trustworthiness of IT Systems and Services

The evolution of information technology and its products is one of the most rapid evolutions in the history of humanity. The introduction of the Internet and wireless broadband networks together with service-oriented architectures has facilitated the composition of interactive services using web technologies and web communities. These complex systems and networks have access to massive amounts of personal and business data, information, and content in ways that are difficult for users to understand and control. Software testing is a way to find faults in software. Microsoft has developed an integrated process called trustworthy computing for improving the security of commercial software as it is being developed. This chapter discusses works that develop trustworthiness structures based entirely on the notions of quality and applying as its framework the ISO/IEC 9126 set of standards.
