Application of Operator-Based Nonlinear Feedback Control to Large-Scale Systems using Distributed Control System Device

In this chapter, the multitank process experimental system using the distributed control system (DCS) device is discussed, including the water level and water flow processes. Theoretical modeling of the two processes is given according to the Bernoulli theorem. Then, the robust nonlinear design method using operator-based robust right coprime factorization is considered for the two processes. From a large-scale industrial application viewpoint, the designed controller approximated realization is discussed using the CENTUM CS3000. For the parasitic terms caused by the approximated realization and the process uncertainties, a robust stable condition is derived to guarantee the robust stability of the nonlinear feedback control system. Finally, the experimental results show the effectiveness of the design scheme.
