Ultra wide band (UWB) compatibility with IMT-2000: time for a transform or noisy neighbours ?

UWB history and regulation is summarized. Interference impact to 3G is quantified using two alternative methods: coupling loss and 'geometry factor'. To avoid reduction of capacity or coverage of 3G networks some alternative proposals for UWB operating bands are made.
