A new method for finite element calculation of micromagnetic problems

A novel method has been developed to compute static 2-D and 3-D micromagnetic structures using finite elements. The method can be applied to domain studies, i.e. bubble configuration, Bloch line memories, or magnetooptical materials. All energy terms are minimized without approximation, especially the long-range demagnetizing energy, which causes generally long running time; boundary finite elements are used in this program. The algorithm for minimizing the total energy is gradient or Newton type.<
