Horn antennas with uniform power patterns around their axes

It is shown that a linearly polarized horn that has the same power pattern in all planes through the axis can be made from a synthetic material for which the boundary conditions on

are the same. An arbitrarily close approximation to this requirement can be realized by means of a grooved circular horn.
