Driver Drowsiness Detection and Alert System: A Solution for Ride-Hailing and Logistics Companies

One of the major causes of fatal road casualties has been due to drowsiness and fatigue. Drowsiness threatens the driver's safety, especially when they have to travel long distances. Keeping this in mind, the paper describes a system that will increase, analyze and ameliorate the driver's safety. The paper outlines the research methodology, based on which the system is designed. In the proposed system, the driver will be alerted when they are drowsy, and if the alert alarms cross the threshold, the driver's current location will be sent to their emergency contacts. The system effectively assesses the driver's drowsiness and fatigue levels by using Convolutional Neural Networks. The system can be segregated into three components: model architecture, mobile component, and website. It is created for logistics and ride-hailing companies to track and analyze their driver's performance. This system aims to create a safer environment for the driver and be a vital asset for such companies.
