The Relationship between Negative Life Events and Maternal Depression: Multiple Intermediate Effects

The results showed that negative life events significantly predicted the depression of pregnant women; and subjective social support and objective social support are both partially mediated the influence of pregnant women's negative life events on depression during pregnancy. The findings of the current study indicated that enhancing the social support of pregnant women, whatever subjective social support or objective social support, can effectively relieve their depression. Finally, the theoretical contribution and practical significance of the current study were discussed.
