Abstract:

The expediency of reducing to two the number of symmetrical twisted pairs cable of Long Ethernet systems has been justified. The possibility of the design optimization of such a cable has been shown. As an optimality criterion, it has been proposed to use the value equality of the canonical 4-pair and the proposed 2-pair cable design. It has been shown that the design optimization requires a simultaneous increase in the diameter of the copper solid conductor and increase in the diameter of the round plastic insulation so that the characteristic impedance is 155 Ohm. It has been proved that the design optimization makes it possible to halve the operating attenuation constant.
