A Broadband Dual-Polarized Base Station Antenna for 5G Application

A wideband ± 45° dual-polarized antenna is designed for use in 5G base station deployment. The antenna consists of a crisscross-shaped radiator, four claw-like couplers, two integrated baluns, and a metal reflector. The ± 45° dual polarization can be attained through the vector synthesis of the currents present on the surface. The simulation findings indicate that the proposed antenna operates over a bandwidth of 1.70-2.63 GHz, demonstrating good impedance matching (VSWR < 1.5), with port isolation exceeding 32 dB. The antenna gain exceeds 8.2 dBi, and the cross-polarization performance is acceptable within the operating band.
